RIP The Best Website Ever.
January 31 2023 - April 26 2023 11:07am
I am sorry, but this is most likely the end of the website. According to the image, the school has not only identified my current website, but the old one.
Not only this, but they've only blocked my website, nothing else under pages.dev. By reading the comments on the padlet, they know who owns this. It's not hard to find out. There is a chance that I will get in a lot of trouble, and continuing to run this website is no more than a massive risk to have massive consequences. I am sorry to admin, and just ask for some leniency if I do get in trouble. I started this as a hobby, a fun little thing. It expanded from a hobby, to something that people loved. It expanded bigger than Padlet could support, and I spent 2 straight days designing and building this entire website. Along with that, I spent tens more hours adding games, updating it, adding bookmarklets, and so many other things for a chance to make it something truly amazing. I worked on getting ads on the website (however it got blocked before they were accepted.) I built this so kids weren't bored during class, such as myself. With this website, I made great things. I brought back games people loved. I brought back the turbowarp EDITOR, so people could still use it and enjoy developing on it. I wanted to bring back some of the best games. And I succedded. I made a website that so many peope played, spreading across grades, hitting 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. This was more than a cool website I shared with my friends. This became a project. This became something amazing. I am a straight A's student. I made this so my free time could be spent on something truly great. It's not the best. But I'm glad it existed. I'm glad to have been such a massive part of this school, even for just a few weeks. We released the full website on April 10th, just 16 days ago. In that time, we hit nearly 10 THOUSAND visits. We released the padlet early February, which means we had just 2 months to enjoy this masterpiece.
I loved working on this website, and improving the days of other people. I even had support from a few teachers, who inspired me to keep going. I eventually wanted to have a reason to work on this other than just a hobby, and I applied for Google AdSense. I wanted to make something off of this website. Sadly, we got blocked before I could.
This is probably going to get me in a lot of trouble. Along with the fact that I owned the biggest game website, and had an unmoderated anonymous place where people could send messages (the padlet), the school incorrectly identified it as a proxy and bypassing the filter. I did a lot of the work on the same chromebook I use for school, storing everything on a simple USB drive. But since the school identified it as a proxy, this is now against the student handbook, and can technicaly get anyone who used the website in trouble for bypassing the filter and using things that were blocked, and me for creating a "proxy". This situation really sucks. I loved this project, and if I could, I would continue to maintain and work on this. But it's simpy too dangerous for me to continue.
Thank you for this opportunity, and thank you for reading this message. This is most likely the end of The Best Website Ever. And in my opinion, at least at this school, it was, and always will be, the best website ever.

Edit:
I just wanna show off the supportiveness of certain people, and show how people want this website back (All statements from THMS students.) I hope admin realizes how much effort one student put into this website, and allows us to enjoy, just for the rest of the year.
